Mayo County Council New Crane for Roonagh Pier

EK Marine Ltd were commissioned by May County Council to supply a new crane to service the ferries operating from Roonagh Pier to Claire and Inishturk Islands.

EK Marine Ltd worked with the Councils Engineering department to design a telescopic knuckle boom crane both  capable of servicing the ferries requirements and withstanding  the harsh Atlantic swells that drown the exposed pier. The cranes specification is:

Folding telescopic knuckle boom marine crane

Lifting capacity 3 tons @ 10m

Marine grade slew ring with 360 degree continuous slewing

Stainless steel pins, hydraulic rods, fittings and fixings

Manual controls in sperate console with protective cage for operator

EKM specification coatings to crane and structure comprising

Shot blasting to SA2.5, metalising and painting with 2 pack marine epoxy paint

The crane and operating console were mounted to a base plate at EK Marines workshop and installed on the pier together with a new diesel powered hydraulic power pack and stainless steel hard piping by the company.
