Specialist and General Services to the Marine and Industrial Sectors.

EK Marine Ltd provides a comprehensive range of engineering services to its customers from both our workshops in Killybegs County Donegal and from our service trucks which are available 24 hours a day to work at customers sites and facilities.

We have an in house design team which using cutting edge computer aided design packages can model and design single parts and components up to full deck equipment packages for customers based upon their requirements and specifications.

All work is carried out using industry leading methods, plant and equipment by engineers and fitters who are both qualified and experienced in their trade. Quality control and testing is managed through the companies quality management system and procedures which are certificated to the internationally recognised standard of ISO 9001:2008.

The sectors that we provide engineering services for include but are not limited to:

  • Blast cleaning and the application of corrosion prevention systems and marine coatings

Mechanical

In addition to our Marine Engineering capability we provide mechanical engineering service to the following sectors:

  • Agriculture
  • Forestry
  • Civil Engineering
  • Transport
  • Utilities

The array of work that we carry out for customers in these sectors is vast and varied, it includes:

  • Custom design and manufacture of lorry and trailer bodies for industry specific uses
  • Design, manufacture and installation of materials handling equipment
  • Repair and maintenance of vehicles, plant and equipment
  • Maintenance, repair, and replacement of engines
  • Maintenance, rebuilding and replacement of gearboxes
  • Installation, repair and maintenance of industrial generators
Design and manufacture of custom lifting equipment

Precision

In addition to manufacturing parts for our winches and cranes the team in our precision engineering workshop manufacture components for customers in the marine, industrial and offshore industries. These can be one off prototypes, small runs of parts or the reverse engineering of broken or damaged items. We have the following items of machinery in our workshop and fabrication shed.

  • Small, medium and large horizontal lathes
  • Medium and large horizontal boring machines
  • Radial drills
  • Milling machines
  • Grinding machines
  • Slotting machines
  • Plate bending rolls
  • Punches and presses
  • CNC 6 head gas flame profile cutter

Coded Welding & Fabrication

We provide welding services in our own workshops and offsite in customers, ship yards, construction sites or industrial facilities. We carry out welding using the following methods.

  • Manual Metal Arc (MMA)
  • Metal Inert Gas (MIG)
  • Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG)

Gas

Our welders are coded to industry standards and receive regular training and assessment in new procedures, methodology and the use of new equipment and materials.

Our weld procedures are developed both in house and with external consultants and testing of welds is carried out using NDT.

Metals we can weld include:

  • Steel
  • Stainless Steel
  • Aluminium

We also carry out brazing and silver soldering of brass, copper and bronze.

We fabricate small and large structures in mild steel, stainless steel and aluminium which incorporate flat and bent plate, rolled and bent tube together with standard structural sections.

Our pipe fitting team work alongside our hydraulic engineers installing hydraulic systems in mild and stainless steel, they also fit pipework for fuel, fresh and ballast water transfer.

Profile Cutting

Our 6 head CNC controlled gas flame profile cutter has a 12m x 6m bed and can cut plate up to 200m deep which makes it one of the largest in Ireland. It is available to carry out the cutting of plate and components for third parties, typical items that it cuts are.

  • Kits to fabricate steel boats.
  • Steel beams for structural use in buildings
  • Components for the Oil & Gas and renewable energy industries
  • Parts for the manufacture of industrial machinery

Our design team can nest components for customers wishing to avail of our profile cutting service to minimise waste and maximise efficiency of the machine.

Electrical

Our electrical engineering department provides an installation, fault finding and repair service to clients in the marine and industrial sectors, examples of the work we carry out are:

  • Design and installation and maintenance of control panels for hydraulic control systems
  • Installation, fault finding and repair of remote control systems for cranes and winches
