MFV Virtuous

The 24m Virtuous is a prawn freezing trawler designed to fish the North Sea grounds from its home port of Peterhead.

EK Marine Ltd designed, manufactured and installed the deck equipment and hydraulic control system working closely with the designer, S C McAllister, the owner Sandy West and the Builders Parkol Marine Ltd.

Project Detail

EK Marine Ltd designed and manufactured the deck equipment and specified the load sensing hydraulic control system which was installed by Parkol Marine Ltd.

3 x EKM Split Trawl Winches, 15t line pull with timed guiding on, servo assisted hydraulically actuated fail safe brakes with drum capacities of 1300 fathoms of 20mm wire.

2 x EKM Double Split Net Drums 4m3 capacity with 15 ton pull

1 x EKM 7.5 ton Gilson Winch mounted on the aft deck

1 x Knuckle boom tilting head power block crane capacity of 1.5t @ 7m, 360 degree slewing with deck mounted controls

1 x EKM Landing Crane 8m fixed boom lifting capacity of 1 ton @ 7.5m and capable of 390 degree slewing.
