Mayo County Council New Crane for Roonagh Pier
EK Marine Ltd were commissioned by May County Council to supply a new crane to service the ferries operating from Roonagh Pier to Claire and Inishturk Islands.
EK Marine Ltd worked with the Councils Engineering department to design a telescopic knuckle boom crane both capable of servicing the ferries requirements and withstanding the harsh Atlantic swells that drown the exposed pier. The cranes specification is:
Folding telescopic knuckle boom marine crane
Lifting capacity 3 tons @ 10m
Marine grade slew ring with 360 degree continuous slewing
Stainless steel pins, hydraulic rods, fittings and fixings
Manual controls in sperate console with protective cage for operator
EKM specification coatings to crane and structure comprising
Shot blasting to SA2.5, metalising and painting with 2 pack marine epoxy paint
The crane and operating console were mounted to a base plate at EK Marines workshop and installed on the pier together with a new diesel powered hydraulic power pack and stainless steel hard piping by the company.
