The 27.35m MFV’s Carmarose, Colmcille & Westward Isle are state of the art pair trawlers that have been built to replace existing vessels of the same name, they were designed and specified to increase efficiency and safety with the key feature being the ability to pump fish over the stern.
EK Marine Ltd worked closely with the vessel owners and the builders Vaersftet ApS to design and supply a deck equipment package and hydraulic control system that would satisfy the new vessels exacting requirements.
EK Marine Ltd custom designed, manufactured and installed the following hydraulic package aboard each of the sister vessels:
2 x EKM Trawl winches, 25 ton core line pull with level wind, and a drum capacity of 1100 fathoms of 22mm wire.
2 x EKM Split braked net drums, 12m3 capacity with 25 ton core line pull.
EKM Headline & tail line winch each with 25 ton core line pull
EKM Net sounder winch, 2.3 ton core line pull with a capacity for 2500m of 12.4mm wire
EKM Anchor / Tuna Winch
EKM Hydraulic hose reel with a capacity for 60m of 11/2″ & 11/4″ hydraulic hoses
EKM pump through fish hose reel with a capacity for 61m of 14″ heavy duty lay flat hose
EKM Knuckle boom landing crane lifting capacity of 2.5 ton @ 9m and capable of 360 degree continuous slewing equipped with 2 ton winch and radio remote control.
EKM Power block crane custom designed for both net handling and fish pumping over the stern. Lifting capacity of 2.2 ton @ 6m and capable of 360 degree continuous slewing equipped with 2 ton winch, 28″ sheave power block head and radio remote control.
Hydraulic system which includes a wheel house control console for the winches and fish pump together with a EKM trawl wire monitoring system.
Installation of the hydraulic system was carried out by EK Marine Ltds Engineers at Vaersftet ApS’s shipyard in Hvide Sande Denmark.
