Pylon Erection

GNS Grid Network Solutions provide a turnkey solution service for all aspects of Power Related Infrastructure involved in the Transmission, Distribution, and Connection of Electricity.

The Binbane – Letterkenny 110kV line consists of 68.43km of overhead line commencing at the existing Binbane substation to a newly constructed switching station at Tievebrack where it will then continue to Letterkenny 110kV substation.

Project Detail

EK Marine’s Crane Hire Division provided crane hire to Grid Network Services for the installation of the 110V overhead line from the Binbane Substation to Letterkenny.

EKM Crane Hire’s scope of work involved the erection of single circuit lattice steel angle masts (149E towers) , ranging from 12m to 18m to crossarm level with an additional earthwire peak approximately 5.75m in height.

The work was carried out in remote sites with difficult access in central Donegal, EKM selected their 35t Coles crane for the contract as it would provide sufficient lift and reach whilst maintaining a low ground pressure on the pre installed temporary crane mats and access ways.
