The 28m Fiona KIII has been designed and built to carry out trawling for both pelagic and white fish species.
EK Marine Ltd designed, manufactured and installed the fishing cranes for the multi tasking vessel working closely with the designer, Ove Christiansen of Vaersftet, the owner Tom Kennedy of Tralee and the Builders Mooney Boats.

The FIONA KIII has ben designed as a multi roll fishing vessel being equipped to trawl for both Pelagic and white fish species. EK Marine Ltd worked closely with the Designers, 2 ship yards, and the owners to design, manufacture and install the vessels 2 fishing cranes.

The forward mounted folding knuckle boom landing crane is the first of its type to be designed and built it Ireland and has a full marine specification.
The cranes slew base incorporates a stainless steel slew ring for increased power, control and level of operation over the slew cylinders found traditionally on cranes of this capacity.
The column and boom are constructed from lazer cut hardox steel, this allows for thinner lighter sections to be used as it is over twice the strength of conventional high strength steel decreasing the weight of the crane and increasing the stability of the vessel.
The boom has 2 extensions and is capable of lifting 1.5 tonnes at 10m it is equipped with a 2 tonne 2 speed Rotzler winch with a capacity for 61m of 10mm wire rope.
