Unloading of Wind Turbines, Killybegs Harbour

EK Marine Ltd working alongside Killybegs Stevedoring for Celtic Shipping agencies have completed the unloading and lay down of 18 wind turbine tower sections from one of the largest cargo vessels  ever to berth at the Port of Killybegs. The 32,460 GT Rui Ning 6 geared bulk carrier which is 190m long and 32m wide. The tower sections were lifted from the vessels hold onto a quayside trombone trailer by its own heavy lift deck cranes before being driven to the lay down area. EK Marines mobile cranes worked in tandem to unload the sections in the lay down area. The final destination for the wind turbines is GE’s Acres Wind farm at Ballyshannon County Donegal.
