MFV Paula
Spooling and tensioning the trawl wire aboard the new build pelagic fishing vessel the MFV Paula.
Spooling and tensioning the trawl wire alongside the quay using a shore based winch to achieve a pre determined tension and optimum line lay means that a fishing vessel can go straight to work and not spend valuable time and money carrying out the operation at sea.

Project Detail
An EK Marine Ltd team travelled with 2 lorries to the Karstens Shipyard in Skagen,Denmark to spool and tension the trawl wires onto the new build 62.6m long pelagic fishing vessel the MFV Paula.
The first lorry carried the spooling winch and diesel hydraulic power pack to carry out the operation, the second carried the reels of wire for the vessel supplied by Swan Net Gundry of Killybegs. The team installed the wires on the trawl winches and net sounding drums to the tensions specified by the vessels engineers allowing the vessel to commence trawling operations on leaving Denmark.
