Project Detail
The MFV Genesis II was built and operated as a purse seiner for her Norwegian owners before being purchased by the Atlantic Dawn Group. In order to stern trawl with other vessels in the groups fleet the boat would require re rigging with the main requirement being the addition of a top line winch to the aft deck. EK Marine Ltd were commissioned to design, manufacture and install a low pressure winch with a line pull of 65 tons and a drum capacity for 600m of 73mm rope.
The winch was designed and built over a period of 10 weeks utilising a Braatvag low pressure hydraulic motor which operates at an oil pressure of 60 bar. EK Marine Ltd installed the winch on new foundations over seen by DNV and modified the vessels hydraulic system to allow the winch to work in unison with the existing system without expensive upgrades to increase capacity.
EK Marine Ltd design, manufacture and maintain low pressure and high pressure deck equipment and control systems for the marine, fishin, oil, gas and renewable energy offshore industries.
